How to Choose Social Media Platform to Promote Blog

How to Choose Social Media Platform to Promote Blog

Social Media is an ally for all the bloggers if used correctly. But while using social media for blog promotion one has to be constantly on toes. If you don’t mind being on the edge all the time, social media promotions are for you. As a beginner the whole social media promotion world can be daunting. Let us understand that using social media platforms is totally free, having said that there is a certain limitation on what personal information you are giving out to the  social media platforms. Here are some things which you should consider before choosing a platform for social media promotion.

Most bloggers do the mistake of being on all social media platforms, which is overwhelming both for the bloggers and for the readers. They do not know what to expect from you. So, choosing the platform which suits your blog posts is the wisest decision you can make as a blogger.

How would you choose the platform?

  • Twitter:

If you are a blogger who can whip up 140 words every now and then throughout the day and attract your readers through them, twitter is for you. For some it may prove to be daunting. Twitter is the most trending social media platform. It also helps to understand which hashtags are popular and you can frame your content accordingly. There is a huge blogger community on twitter which one can get connected to. Like Blogchatter, there are other platforms which conduct chat sessions which is worth joining. Twitter is very useful as a beginner, but you need to understand and find out your tribe.

  • Facebook

This is by far everyone’s favourite because of ease of use and the popularity among users. Facebook promotions are tricky. There are two ways to promote on Facebook. The first way is to publish a blog post link on a dedicated Facebook Account and the other way is to write a blog post on Facebook. But the problem with the other one is that it won’t get you the traffic. Though your Facebook account has millions of followers, until they drop by your blog site, getting the visitors is virtually of no use. So while promoting on Facebook, it is important to know what exactly you want from it. Facebook is amazing as it has many blogging tribes. You can always find your tribe and get traffic routed from there.

  • Pinterest

Pinterest can not be completely called as a social media platform, it is a search engine and best at that. Choose Pinterest if your posts are mostly “How to’s” and helpful to people. Pinterest is the choice for Fashion, Craft, DIY bloggers but it is not limited to that for sure. Any genre can do well on Pinterest. You need to have an amazing sense of images to share it on Pinterest. And a lot of homework is needed to get going. In the forthcoming blog posts, Pinterest strategies for beginners will be covered.

  • Instagram

“If you haven’t grammed it, it hasn’t happened”, is one of the saying. As it promptly says, Instagram is more about being real. IGTV is one of the most watched platform on Instagram. If you are a fitness blogger, yoga blogger and the likes, Instagram is for you. Instagram audience prefers it real without many images. If you are ready to show your progress and strike a real conversation, it is the best place. Be careful to choose proper hashtags to amplify your presence on Instagram.

All the platforms have different promoting strategies which we will discuss in our next posts. Which platform do you use widely and which platform gets more traffic to your blog? Drop in the comment.

Slowing Down To Win – Superblogger Challenge 2019

Slowing Down To Win – Superblogger Challenge 2019

Super blogger Challenge Week 3 is here and we are all excited. The excitement is at its peak which is natural. Reading around 50 blogs, commenting on them, sharing them is no mean task. It takes a huge amount of time and energy. Some of us are full-time bloggers and some of us are also juggling with full-time jobs and are accountable for many things at the workplace. So how do you get the best of both worlds? By slowing down.

Why slow down when we can accomplish everything well within time?

A very legit question. Slowing down means not reducing the pace of the fantastic work that you are doing but to enhance the detail of what you are doing. Sometimes we complete a task because it is necessary to complete and not because we would learn from it. Let us learn to learn from every task than merely completing it. That will help us move a few more steps closer to the win.

Slowing down means letting others go ahead in this highly competitive environment

Every blog has its own niche and a reader base. Working towards getting more readers is all about engagement. Your engagement on their blog posts and their social media handles. Instead of commenting on 10 blog posts a day, you can try and get only 5 blog posts commented, but be sure to read the post fully and the comment. A heartfelt and thoughtful comment would certainly gain you more followers. Share tweets that you really mean and do not do it just for the sake of it. Slowing down does not means falling behind, it means doing better work. Better work means better rewards.

Slowing down is boring

I am sure you would agree with me, but slowing down is more of a mentality. You need quality or quantity on your blog is also one question you can answer before deciding the approach. Fast pace may get you more readers for some time but quality content would certainly bring some faithful readers who would remember your each blog post. Life is sorted when your message reaches to those chosen someones instead of reaching to a herd of people who do not even care what is on the blog post. Slowing down is boring but also would give you ample time to think about your blog niche and help you get the most out of your creative process.

Ok, I have decided to slow down now what?

  • Think about your blog niche
  • Highlight your strong areas and write posts accordingly

Chinese Tea Ceremony – All You Need To Know About

Chinese Tea Ceremony – All You Need To Know About

Watching Sherlock Holmes – The Blind Banker was surprising. The first shot is of the museum which focuses on the tea kettle, a deep blue one and the lady explaining about the Chinese Tea Ceremony. That shot was an iconic shot which remained with me for a long time. May be because when the world is totally obsessed over numbers and money, this girl in the museum had been there to protect the kettle and also finds pleasure in explaining the museum visitors about an ancient tradition related to Chinese Tea. Little offbeat yet surprising!!

It is not a widely known fact that the tea ceremony has been originated from confluence of the philosophies of Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism.

China is pretty known for their tea culture. Tea in China was initially cultivated as a herbal medicine and it was used mostly within temples. Calming effects is the main reason why monks used tea. It is also to show humility and respect to nature.

What is the tea ceremony called?

It is called as He Jing Yi Zhen meaning peace, quiet, enjoyment and truth. Chinese people relate all these important things in human life to the Tea Ceremony.

The importance of the tea ceremony is not limited to personal experience, it is rather a social and traditional event in China.

Here are six important aspects of Chinese Tea Ceremony:

Attitude: The person who carries out the ceremony should be pleasant, elegant and should be confidant.

Selection of Tea: Aroma, taste, shape is the main criteria for selection. Also, if there is a story behind the type of tea and name then it is a cherry on the cake.

Selection of water: Water should be light, pure and clean to avoid mingling of unnecessary chemicals in the brew .

Teaware: It is the most important part. One should be careful while choosing teaware. It should be such that the participants in the tea ceremony should be appreciative for the beauty and utility of the teaware.

Chinese tea for weightloss

Ambience: One can not have tea when it is chaotic around. The environment should be clean and ambient. Presence of an elegant as well as an intricate artwork is considered to be enhancing for the ceremony.

Technique: Gestures, hand movement, clothing are considered to be paramount while brewing tea. Chinese people believe that the ceremony needs to be complete in all these aspects.

As I travel back from my Chinese Tea Ceremony thoughts, I see my desk which is clean and tidy. I also have an elegant poster in front of me, I am dressed elegantly and have all that which needs to make a perfect brew. Further, I would like to indulge in some peace while sipping on my tea. I slowly take out my InstaCuppa Detox Double Walled Glass Bottle Infuser, which is a glassware and has an infuser which will keep tea leaves in water dipped for sometime. Chinese tea also helps to boost weight loss which is quite natural, once you have composed demeanour, weight loss is just a tea cup away…let’s do it the Chinese way..:)

Here is a short video about instacuppa detox bottle which is my favourite bottle to carry beverages.

As a participant of my very own Instacuppa Tea Ceremony, I appreciate the teaware ( which is a fine glass and design is very articulate) and proceed to enjoy the whole ceremony which is centered around me and my Instacuppa.

Spicy Tales – The 5 AM Mommy

Spicy Tales – The 5 AM Mommy

Life is all about spices, especially when you have taken birth on the mother earth, whatever life happens is surrounded by some chunks of glorious spice.

Sometimes it is as captivating as the smell of nutmeg and the other times it is a good enhancer of the experience much like the cinnamon.

Indian spices have different chapters written in many different scriptures but the understanding of these tiny little important things in Indian kitchen can come only when we fail in putting the exact amount of it in the delicacy. That is the catch in the science of cooking which becomes better as you grow old.

Indian spice box is a matter of great pride in almost all households. Different states of India has different type of spice box based on the ingredients of the food that they prepare. The food is local, seasonal and as we all know many recipes are passed on from generations to generations. Let’s see what is there in the spice box:

Marathi Masala Dabba

Sourced from the internet.

Marathi especially brahmin food revolves around very few spices and masala dabba has those many spices only. The masala dabba in marathi is also called as “Masala Dani” Dani means container. In my mother’s masala dani, she used to keep Red Chilli Powder, Mustard Seeds, Turmeric Powder, Cumin Powder, Coriander Powder, Salt and Garam or Goda Masala which is often used to make Amti ( Marathi dal) and so on. The other stuff which was sparingly used in the kitchen like Tejpan ( Bay Leaf), Cinnamon ( Dalchini), Chhadila ( Stone Flower ) and so in used to occupy space on the top floor of the spice box. She used these things sparingly. Cloves and Cardamom were used in Mukhwas and had separate place in the shelf. I have two masala dabbas out of which one is “Marathi Masala Dani”

Anjarei petti

A tamil spice box, literally can be translated into 5 (Anjarai) Petti ( Compartments). This box is the holy grail of Tamil cuisine for sure. South Indian cuisine uses red chillies, urad dal, chana dal, black pepper, jeera ( cumin seeds) primarily in cooking and so Anjarai Petti has these 5 ingredients. This combination of spices becomes so handy mostly while making Rasam which is one of the staple food in South India. One can also add fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds to add the finishing touch to the box. Tamil cuisine also needs fresh herbs almost everyday which includes Coriader Leaves, Kadhipatta ( Curry Leaves) , Ginger, Garlic and Green Chillies. Most households use the freshly ground masalas everyday. The ingredients in Anjarai petti may vary based on the region( Kongu Nadu, Chettinadu and the likes) also as per family tradition this spice box changes.

Masaliyu

We all love Gujarati food, from Khakras and Theplas, to Dhokla, Undhiyu Gujarati Cuisine is a combination of various spices like any other state in India. Gujrati spice box is called as Masaliyu and it has Hing, Red Chillies, Coriander and Jeera Powder, Cumin seeds, Mustard Seeds, Fenugreek Seeds and Carom Seeds. Gujarati recipes also use Amchur frequently. The most cherished memory which I have of Gujarati household and their food is that they store their grains and make masalas for the whole year.

Panch Phoran

What is bengali food without Panch Phoran..It is a traditional Bengali Spice mix made from five spice hence the name Panch ( Five ) Phoran. This spice mix has black mustard, nigella seeds, fenugreek seeds and cumin seeds which is an integral part of Bengali Cuisine.Be it gravies, chutneys and pickles panch phoran is all there to throw in that special flavour which every Bengali craves for.

  • Sourced from the internet

Whatever are the spices the concept is the same. My grandmother used to say, all these spices are totally different but

the Masala Dani or Anjarei Petti or Masaliyu or The panch phoran box is a great example of how these different spices co-exist and make the most of the things which they are a part of.

They enhance the taste of any dish with their presence. The same goes with family. Having a Masala Dani meaning we have a bunch of crazy people in one home who stand by their loved ones in difficult times and enhance this experience called life.

Every food has a story, because it has the essence of many generations…. The spice box is no exception..here is to the food and its stories..
