Mono-Travelogues – 1

Mono-Travelogues – 1

An early morning packup
A vacation after a long
Srirangam Bodi and nearby
Arun planned it all.

Happy,excited and nerve wrecking
The roadtrip that it was
Arun was the driver
And he drove it all along.

Srirangam Trichy –
Beautiful calm place
The old trees and the new
The coconut tall and the bougainvillea bloom
The small town made the memories loom

The grace of Lord spread all over
the sunshine on the rooftops
The Gopuram shines bright
At the dusk and at the dawn

Takes us back to the old days
Of Rajas and Maharajas
Grandeur! Is its name?

Stand in the queue
Look at the Lord
A moment of Darshan
Of the resting God

Of several sannidhis
And great architecture
Hide and seek of the moon
The devotees and the devotion

Sing a Bhajan or join both hands
Blessed are those who come here to this great Land……

Where to go in South India for Vacation

Where to go in South India for Vacation

Tamil Nadu, is one of the travel destinations you should tick off your bucket list. Vacation in South India is a pleasant experience during Winter, so this is the perfect time to visit the land of 1000 temples. Here are some of the fantastic places you should go to South India for Vacation.

  • Chennai
    • Often disgraced for severe weather and the very infamous Chennai Rain
      Margazhi Rangoli

      Margazhi Rangoli

s, this year Chennai has received its rainfall already, and the weather looks clear till the end of the holiday season. With the start of Margazhi month, musicians from different parts of the world travel to Chennai for concerts held in various sabhas. For a native Tamilian, this season is a music and food season, where after the concerts one can gorge on the tastiest South Indian delicacies from the respective canteens. If you are a music connoisseur and would like to listen to world-class Carnatic singers across the world, this is the right time.

    • Just a stroll around agraharams (the locality near temples) in Chennai in the early mornings would be like a cultural feast with beautiful kolams ( Rangoli) drawn on streets. Drawing kolam is a regular ritual but drawing them on streets is a feature of Margazhi Mornings. I would say this is the most beautiful month to see and feel the real Tamil Culture.Other most significant things to visit are
        • Kapaliswarar Temple
        • Marina Beach
        • Santhome Chapel

And many more beautiful temples around the city.

  • Mahabalipuram
    Shore Temple

    Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram

    • On a 2 hour drive from Chennai, Mahabalipuram awaits tourists throughout the year. Beautiful beaches are the highlight of Mahabalipuram. The Shore Temple, which has been standing there for eras has a historic tale to tell. What I love about Mahabalipuram is the Sunrise. Calm, away from the chaos of the city. Start as early as 4.30 am and reach Mahabalipuram by the Sunrise to just seek a glimpse of the beauty nature has to offer.
  • Pondicherry
    • My favorite destination Pondicherry is around 4-hour drive from Chennai. Pondicherry has a lot to offer. If you want to be away from the chaos of the city life, Pondicherry is the best place to be. There are two amazing Ashrams around Chennai, one
      Pondicherry

      Banyan Tree

is Aurobindo Ashram which is in Pondicherry, and the other one is on the way to Thiruvannamalai, Shri Ramana Maharishi Ashram. Both have an extraordinary place in my heart. Auroville is a Global Village, An experimental Community which has to be experienced ( I often feel that I need a couple of days to explore Auroville 🙂 ). There are no words to describe what one feels after visiting Auroville and The Aurobindo Ashram. I do not want to dwell on explaining what will these places offer you; I leave it up to you to feel and to comment on this article 🙂

Stay Happy Stay Blessed!
